This blog will talk about the qualities and attributes of the gifted child.
He won’t wear anything but his soft white T-shirt! She picks a topic, like space, and then obsesses about space for months! He talks to me like an adult in a little person’s body! And her soul seems as fragile as a flower because Every-Little-Thing brings on big emotions.
Sound familiar? You may have a gifted child. Gifted children are dear to my heart. This misunderstood population of children is often ignored. They are ‘swept under the rug’ at school because their public school teachers are overworked, and “they are smart, so they will be ok.” Or, these are the kids in the principal’s office every day for making trouble and distracting others in the class. You see, they finish the assignment within minutes and are bored out-of-their-mind waiting for the others to catch up. Or, these are kids that refuse to do the work at all! They don’t see the point of the assignment and don’t understand why you are wasting their time with pointless tasks.
Why do I love these children? Their talents will be the generation to find cures for diseases, write the next Broadway plays, find life in outer space, and improve humanity. These Albert Einstein’s, Charles Dickens’, Marie Curie’s, and Georgia O’Keefe’s of the world will mold our future and push boundaries. I love them despite their impulsivity, low level of tolerance, and volatile temper that can drive you crazy. Their constant questioning, curiosity, passionate hearts, and creative nature will awe you! These talented young people will no doubt keep you on your toes!
